Into the Silver Screen: Breaking Dawn Part 1

11.21.2011
8:00 PM
Cinema 4
Powerplant Mall, Rockwell

Me, Meanne and Sir Hubs watched "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part 1" The ticket was kind of expensive, 350 php but it was for charity. We got the tickets from Meanne's cousin who was one of the organizers of some charity event. Since its Twilight, heck I did go and it was for a good cause.

A short recap of the movie as not to spoil people who didn't read the book, the pacing was fast but it did capture all the important scenes beautifully; especially Isle Esme. Bella's transition from a newly wed, her suffering as she was pregnant, being a near corpse to her birth as a vampire was amazing and it was very, very convincing. The last scene was Bella opening her eyes and it showed that she had been reborn as a vampire with her blood-red irises. Though the pacing was fast and it lacked the scenes from when Jacob realizing his destiny as an alpha of the pack, Jacob and Rosalie's bickering (dog and blondie jokes) it made up with the amazing scene of Bella helplessly trying to seduce the resistant Edward, now that scene was funny. Not to mention Jacob imprinting on Renesmee, now that is funny; imagine your best friend imprinting on your daughter, awkward!

Although I did want more, I'm secretly anticipating the 2nd part. Oh, and for a little spoiler there was a bonus scene; it involved the Volturi, Aro, Caius, Marcus and some random girl but I won't say anything more.

I love this fan made Breaking Dawn poster. Now I'm anticipating Bella's vampire transformation

 My ticket

Forever begins now.

Worldwide Act = Big Bang

Seriously, voting nonstop for the MTV EMAs was a first for me. I think my hand hurt with all that voting and refreshing then maxing out the days number of votes religiously.

When Big Bang won the Asia-pacific region, they were instantly nominated for the Worldwide act for the show proper and that was voting nonstop part 2.

My plan was not to watch the EMAs live cause it will only cause me this anxiety and nervousness which was a rare experience. To win the worldwide act, it would be based on online votes alone. By the way, MTV EMA will be giving away the worldwide act award for the first time. Talk about pressure.

It would be broadcast live 10 PM their time and 6AM our time (Philippines) my sister was wide awake and streaming the EMAs, for some reason I woke up and then I couldn't sleep. So I decided, heck, come what may I have to watch it.

Big Bang on the red carpet (its nice to see them as 5 once again)

When they said that the next award to be given away will be "The worldwide act" award where the winner will be judged by the fans all over the world. I was like o_O (this is it....)
The nominees were: Restart (Latin America), Big Bang (Asia-Pacific), Lena (Europe), Britney Spears (North America), Abdelfattah Grini (Africa/India/Middle East) - that was a tough competition. And by this time I was shaking.

And when they announced the winner to be: Big Bang from Asia-Pacific, I started screaming (which my sister told me not to, but did anyway) it was 6AM and I was screaming! And I cried, seriously? I don't cry. I really don't and this was a first for me. I don't know with all the news that wanted to crush them, this is certainly the opportunity that would let them know that VIPs will forever be with them.

Re-living the moment. Big Bang won!

It's nice to see Dae's smile once again. TT6TT

And this was their speech (although we can see how elated they are that they don't know what to say)

Jiyong: (in Korean) Woah, its amazing! Thank you so much! We are called Big Bang from South Korea! It's nice to see you and this award is all the more valuable because its a present that you, fans, gave us. I would like to thank our fans, VIP once again! And through this opportunity please take interest in Korean Music and Big Bang even more from now.
Bae: (in English) This is only because of our fans, they are with us through our ups and downs, thank you for standing by us. Thank you MTV! Thank you so much!

2011 has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions for the boys; the amazing comeback, the Dae car accident issue, Jiyong's marijuana issue. But through thick and thin, VIPs all around the globe will be the boys' strongest support system. And winning the MTV EMA Worldwide Act award has proven that. That is how we love them, we will be there through the ups and downs.

And the best gift they returned after we gave them the award? Seeing 5 of them in an official event once again. Jiyong's speech, Bae's raising of the award, Baby Ri's wave, Dae's smile, and Tabi's flying kiss.

There is one thing I knew after this though: VIPs are not lazy to vote anymore. LOL~ Yea~ Tabi we are not lazy anymore.

Throughout the whole show, Big Bang is number one in MTV EMA's twitter tracker. Oh yea~ VIPs~

And they are at the front page of the MTV EMA site.

Here is the banner of their official youtube channel

VIPs, we made it happen and I'm proud of something so wonderful.
We will always be with them.
We made it possible. We made history.
First MTV EMA Worldwide Act Award = Big Bang

Until Whenever. Until Forever. VIP.

So I'll let you go, I'll set you free
And when you've seen what you need to see,
When you find you...
Come back to me...

Whenever I hear him sing, I get chills ♥ (in a good way of course). It takes me back to when me and Arian watched his back-to-back concert here with David Archuleta in Manila. And that was about almost 2 years ago.

May 16, 2009....
David Cook and David Archuleta in Manila...

Into the Silver Screen: No Other Woman

"You can call me anything you want...
A snake, a bitch, the other woman...
But I will never be a pathetic, boring housewife..."
- Cara Zalderiaga

I just came home after watching Star Cinema's latest offering "No Other Woman" with my officemates / friends Arian, Chelle and Juvi. And I must say, I enjoyed watching this movie. I'm not much of a fan of those mushy movies that Star Cinema sometimes offers (perfect example: "You changed my life", I loved "A very special love" but the sequel was just okay I guess, except for the catchy lines).

Main Characters:
Anne Curtis - Cara Zalderiaga
Derek Ramsay - Ram Escaler
Christine Reyes - Sharmaine Escaler

The movie revolves around the perfect marriage of a former playboy who is now committed to the timid, loving housewife. The husband (played by actor Derek Ramsay) has his own furniture business loves his wife (played by actress Christine Reyes) but his world suddenly turns upside down when he got his big break by supplying the furniture of the upcoming luxury resort owned by the wealthy Zaldariagas. He got involved into a "no-string's attached" relationship with the heiress (played by actress Anne Curtis). Love, Life and Marriage is tested by the characters entanglement in the web of lies, hurt and deceit.

For me I would honestly say: BRAVO! The actors were great and they did meet my expectations. I honestly heard good things about this movie since it premiered last Saturday, I think (?) I was afraid that it was overrated, but the reviews were not wrong. It was my friends' idea that we try to watch the film and I was glad that I did. I thought the story was a typical marriage vs. mistress thing, but it was more to that. Yes, it involved cat fights between the wife and the mistress, the "no-string's attached" theme (*ahem* "No Strings Attached" + "Friends with Benefits"), witty lines that is a trademark by all the films of Star Cinema; but it was much more to that. The involvement of the characters made the story a much more deeper feeling.

It was Ram's dilemma on his deep love for his wife versus the irony of loving someone outside of the marriage, how Cara played around only to realize that the joke is on her and that one day she would finally meet her match, how Sharmaine stopped being the timid, perfect housewife and fight for what is rightfully hers.

These three people's different persona made the story work. Added to the story was Ram's problem with his father, his problem with his stepfather (although both of these side stories were left hanging that it left me wondering what happened to it)

Cara's friends who were both encouraging her to stop her nonsense of being the mistress but also tells her that she has so much more to offer than the wife because she is THE Cara Zalderiaga, Cara's dad who was disappointed with her but in the end protected her.

And of course Sharmaine's mom who was hurt by Sharmaine's dad because he was having an affair (that did coincidentally happen to his daughter and that made the mom blurt out witty comments that made my night; those witty comments that only Filipinos could follow LOL~ Filipino puns... Hands down to Carmi Martin, who was playing Sharmaine's mom ^^)

I am not a mushy type of gal but the scene that got me all teary-eyed was when Sharmaine's character was crying and wanted to give up on her husband (this was the scene after Cara and Sharmaine's poolside encounter) it was the line when she said she knows she isn't like this but she ate all her pride and fought even though her pride was on stake because that was how she loved her husband. Kudos to Christine Reyes for doing such a wonderful job!

I was also sympathizing on Cara's character on the part when she was begging Ram to come back to her side and choose her not his wife. The way she begged and pleaded was so real that I find her pathetic. Imagine a woman with such class, grace, an heiress pleading a man just to choose her. I love how Anne Curtis portrayed her character well.

The ending was great, (although I know in real-life situations, most of the people who had this kind of situation would rather crash and die before becoming civil with the other woman) but I'm not going to spoil in case people out there would want to watch the movie, and I definitely recommend it!

All in all I wasn't disappointed with the film neither it had a dull moment. The storyline was flawless and it made me want to go scene after scene to find out what happened next. I would definitely encourage everyone to try and watch this. Kudos to everyone who worked hard to make this movie.

Feel...Watch...P-L-U-S...Sixth Sense....

More than enough, this could be one of the most anticipated comebacks of all time. After their "Abracadabra" success, I guess the girls felt the pressure that they had to re-schedule their comeback and scrap out 3 albums worth of songs; talk about perfection. And sure enough, they didn't disappoint.  Sixth Sense is an album that revolutionized the KPOP norm.

I love the album concept and how the girls revolutionized stereotyped KPOP styles. Sure enough these girls which are gifted with fierceness + vocal prowess and incredible unique style swept the KPOP world by storm. Although I personally loved their Sound-G album, they did concentrate on the electro-pop, autotune that hid their naturally gifted superhuman range of a voice. That is why I love this concept because they didn't need autotune or whatever; what they had was pure music and a new sound.

Their stages where awesome so far on MuCore and Inkigayo, now I'm looking forward to Mnet and MuBank
JeA's voice is of superhuman style. She could easily pull off such powerful high-notes and it was showcased in this album.
Narsha always had this charm and high range pitch that we all know. But her voice in this album played with the different pitches she could come up with.
No doubt, Miryo is fierce. Her on-stage fierceness completes their concept. I love how she rapped the part, "Once you hear this, you wont be able to forget it, If you listen to another song, It’ll be boring" Then off goes the high pitch.

For me Ga-in in this album and their title track "Sixth Sense" is quite a shocker. Normally she would be on alto range to harmonize JeA's high pitch voice and Narsha's high-big voice. But her to sing the first whistle note (ala-Mariah Carey) as Narsha would harmonize with her own whistle note (after JeA's high note and Miryo's inceredible rap) was WOW!

Now let's breakdown the album:

There are actually  6 full tracks, an intro, an interlude and an instrumental.

Swing it Shorty (intro) - This jazzy feel starts with Miryo saying "Ladies and Gentlemen, give me the beat!" followed by Ga-in, Narsha and JeA singing in their own tones "Swing it shorty". This song is like a "Come here everyone and see how we perform, this is how you should do it" in your face drama. It all ends with the audience clapping, letting the listener anticipate the next track.

Sixth Sense - this is their title track which at first honestly, is kinda confusing. When I saw the MV it was stunningly perfect; the cinematography, its metaphoric view of the society and cryptic meaning. The song is mind blowingly brilliant, confusing to say the least. But after you hear it for the 2nd or 3rd time, it will grow on you. The song has so many different elements; powerful (even superhuman vocals *cough* the whistle tone *cough*) vocal prowess and the different colors of the BEG members. What startled me the most is Ga-in's whistle duet with Narsha. I mean I expected Narsha to do it; but Ga-in, the alto of the group, did it brilliantly. JeA's vocals was outstandingly beautiful, Miryo's powerful rap and its beat connects it all. This song makes me wanna sing ~"Better than the love motion.."

Hot Shot - this song was released prior to the album and the title track. I loved the beat! It makes one want to sway their hips and let it all go to the music. But what made me love it even more is the live performance. Seeing BEG as BEG-oppas on stage with their confidence, suits as well as their fedoras is like WOW! (Seriously I would fall in love with them if they were really guys, heck they are even more charming then the other KPOP guys) It gives the impression of sitting in a 60's bar as they go in with confidence while everyone stares at them.Oh yea~ I'll definitely keep the change.

La Boheme - This song showcased their softer side. A side that is discreet in this album considering that the concept is about blowing everyone's minds out. This is a feel-good song which makes one sit in a corner and listen to them all day.

An Inconvienient Truth - A ballad song in their album. Of course, no one would contest that they have amazing vocals. Singing a ballad like this is no-brainer for them. They started as powerful balladeers and for me, personally to listen to them like this is amazing. They clearly conveyed the feeling of someone being hurt. Their voices and how they delivered the song makes one cry. This is a song best listened on a rainy evening.

Lovemotion - when I first saw the title of this song, a line in Sixth Sense wanted to scream at me. (Better than the lovemotion) Is this what they mean? The song has this sultry feel. Its like confessing to a lover, looking into his eyes while slowly captivating the person.

Countdown (interlude) - This is an amazing track. If I could call it a track. I really wish, I mean really, really wish that they would sing this live...I mean A Cappella style. This would be absolutely-luli-luli-luli AMAZING~ ^^ I loved how Miryo said that they are going to take us to another level, which is true and a whole lot more! This track makes me want it to be longer~~

Vendetta - Personally, this is my favorite. When I first heard the track there was this faint background of Lady Marmalade stuck in my head. Mainly because of the beat at first. The song made me wanna say "In your face.." The feel is like they are in a mafia-like war zone, them stepping in suits inside a mansion in a black and white background; getting out of the car in the rain. <3

Sixth Sense (instrumental) - This is a big add-on to their album, its like do you wanna rock out this song's high notes? Then here is the instrumental to that song-kind of feel. Makes you wanna lock the door to your room and sing to your heart's content. *Ahem* rocking out the whistle tone is harder than it seems.

All in all, the album is worth the wait. They really didn't disappoint the fans and gave their all. Like they said, they did took us to another level. And I'm not saying this because I love them (which I clearly do) but because its true.

And yes, I'm an EVERLASTING
What can I say to all music lovers out there? This album is worth the wait and worth every penny.
I hope they sweep the music charts this week.
*Off to purchase the album*

Watch the "Sixth Sense" MV and you'll see the cinematography...perfection.

Singing the "Lazy Song" at the Big Dome

It's a beautiful night,
I'm looking for something dumb to do....
Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you~

April 8, 2011. 8PM. Araneta Coliseum.
Bruno Mars Live in Manila.
This is the much-awaited concert. (And my long overdue blog post. LOL~)
Me, Arian and Dianne all attended the concert together (so me and Arian had an undertime and Dianne did VL, so what?)

We arrived in the afternoon... lo and behold! We saw this long line of fans waiting to set a glimpse and hear the heart-melting voice of Bruno Mars.
Our tickets, Upper Box B~ We could've gotten Upper Box A..but it was sold out TT6TT

Me and Arian, waiting in line.

In the Big Dome. Waiting for H-I-M. (and Dianne, where art thou?)
He sang most of his songs in the album. The concert started with "The Other Side"...He sang hits like "Just the way you are""Billionaire", the sexier version of "Nothing on you", "The Lazy Song", "Marry You", "Liquor Store Blues" and even songs that were unreleased like "Top of the World" and many more...

When he sang "Our First Time" with his sexy voice + his hips swaying. I was like.... *dead* the whole time. I melted.... It was my favorite song in the album and he sang it. DEAD.

Don't it feel good babe~
Don't it feel good baby~
Cause its so brand new~
Yes, It's so brand new baby~
And then here we are, in this big old empty room..
Staring at each other, who's gonna make the first move~~
MELTED. DEAD. DIED. alkdhalsfhla [spazzing]

He even said he was proud to be Filipino. (yey, for patriotism) ♥

Oh-kay, back to reality....
I really enjoyed (okay, LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!) the concert. (excuse for my fangirl self) But sadly, even concerts had to end. He had "Runaway Baby" as the encore song.

All in all...I LOVED IT~ and hope that he comes back soon with another kick-ass album.

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Bruno Bird.

 Me and Bruno Bird ♥

Oh-kay, since I couldn't kiss him in person, you'll do. LOL~
Cam-whores.

Arian, Me and Dianne

 Cam-whores part 2~

Enjoyed the concert, couldn't help but pose~
Just because I couldn't help myself~
Dear Bruno Mars....
I'll also be here the next time you come back to Manila.

Next Stop. 2NE1.

My 2AM in Manila Experience (Day 1)

Where: Newport Plaza  @ Resorts World
When: April 28, 2011 @ 6PM onwards
What (the heck is it?): 2AM Meet and Greet Day 1

Finally, the day has come. The topic which me and my PH IAM friends where talking about on twitter since December. The stalking plans, the flowers, the gifts, the shades and even the chill facade; all of these were drawn since then even though there wasn't even any definite date as to when it would happen (or if ever they would appear and fly over here). It started as a rumor then it became a buzz, then finally (mi ghad, finally!) there was this confirmation that they are going here in the Philippines for a 3-Day leg. Love it! ♥

The 1st and 2nd days would be the Meet and Greet, where there would be fan-signing for the first 500 people. The 3rd day (which would be the highlight) would be for the grand showcase, a mini-concert to be exact.

At first, I was about to attend only on the 30th since I have a prior schedule (so it means I would only attend the grand showcase BUT would have to skip the fan-signing..BOOHOO TT6TT it's a Win-Lose situation). The thing is, work has re-scheduled to the 30th which means I can now go to the fan-signing BUT skip the Grand-Showcase. It's okay I guess, it's still a win-win situation. Imagine being in the grand showcase (a mini-concert) VS. a chance to be this close to the 4 boys and let them sign my CD? I would definitely choose the latter. After all, its a rare chance to see them in person with only inches apart and them smile at you, eye to eye. *melts*

It started with me being too damn tired to get up because of the jogging we had the other night. I had my alarm clock wail at exactly 5:30 AM (yea~ yea~ I live in Sta. Rosa, Laguna and the venue is in Manila. And of course, I want to be one of the first 500). If my best friend Dianne (@iyanskye) didn't call, I would've stayed there procrastinating and trying to shake off sleep. Luckily there was no traffic and I met up with Dianne in 45 mins time. I had to catch my breath and eat breakfast (of course, I would need all the energy to scream my heart out and I couldn't do that with an empty stomach) We met up with Khai (@khaiidyosa) and prepared to go to the venue.

Ugh. The weather is so hot~ We had to be at the venue before 10AM. It was already past 10AM and we were still in MRT EDSA waiting for a taxi, we even had a scary encounter with a barker which we refused to talk to (he was so scary plus he was practically shouting) and told us to scat off because it was his territory. A taxi passed by....Oops, goodbye taxi number 1. We had to walk a block to where we could catch one once again. Success, we caught one but the bad news was that a man stole it from us...goodbye taxi number 2. I would like to commend the person who started the "Third time's the charm" motto because it was definitely true. Taxi number 3 passed and hallelujah...we rode this one. The driver was nice and we even got there in a short amount of time.

We practically want to run to the venue with the scary thought that maybe we didn't make the first 500 cut. We saw how long the line was with having this sinking feeling in the stomach that maybe just maybe we didn't make the cut. Imagine being there in the venue at 10:30 AM (the mall opens at 10 AM) and seeing this long line, the showcase would start at exactly 6PM, and it wasn't even 12 NN yet. Saw Ate Amy (@chinaeyes711) and her friend with her daughter. We waited and saw Kaye (@k_bluester) with her sister and friend. Finally, they started selling out CDs and I got number 159. *whew* At least I have the assurance that all of us are in! (but in the 100-200 zone, can you believe that? o_O)

Got my ticket. Hoorah! ♥

Lunch Time! (But I'll skip that part. LOL~)

Chill time with fellow PH IAM friends~ till 3 PM where we had to be back at the venue so that we would one of those who are first in line when the gate opens. Finally the gate opens, after much pushing we were in! (By the way, Dianne was still on the way to the venue because she went home for a quick shower. She got straight from work with no sleep o_O)

Chill Time~ with PH IAMs (Ate Amy, L.A., Khai and Kaye)

 Hurry up, Hurry up~

Couldn't hide my excitement? LOL~

While waiting for 2AM~ Cam whores. LOL~

Having the "Filipino Time" attitude also applied with 2AM. The event was supposed to start at 6PM but viola it started at 7PM o_O there was even an acoustic front act c/o of "Krissy and Erica" I feel bad for them though, even though they were good, the fans were really, really irritated because it was supposed to start at exactly 6PM (I was equally irritated too >,<") I even wanted to sit down or go home, my legs were failing me.

Then they came in...the whole venue echoed with the screams of PH IAMs and oddly though, I seem to forget the pain of my legs earlier. Jinwoon came first, followed by Kwonnie, then Changmin and lastly, Seulong. (they once again have their singing arrangement/sitting arrangement.) LOL~

Jung Jinwoon and Im Seulong had this most tantalizing smile I ever saw. TV or real-life, they look the same. I didn't expect Jo Kwon to be manly. In videos and TV he looks like a frail and effeminate boy but in real life yea~ he's skinny but buff~ and he looks manly. Lee Changmin was totally a shocker~~ whoever said that he was their bias, obviously saw his hidden charisma. He's so goodlooking~! Shocking right? Even my brother TJ won't believe me. Dianne's bias is Seulong and my bias is Kwonnie. But the moment we saw Changmin we were so speechless that we looked at each other and said "Changmin is so handsome." *with the surprise look in our faces* (Should I change boats? rawr.)

2AM sang "You wouldn't answer my calls" and "Like Crazy" As usual, them singing live is divine, oh so divine. Their voices gives me the chills (in a good way of course. ^^)

Watching 2AM sing live is ever so heavenly~

There goes Lee Changmin..sing your heart out~

Why so serious Jung Jinwoon?

I love your expression dear Im Seulong~

You are definitely 2AM's leader and my bias Jo Kwon~

There was the "Find Jinwoon" game where the lucky fan would find Jinwoon among 2AM but the catch is, she would be blindfolded. Lucky, Lucky fan. She's one of the admins in the BBph forum (my other ultimate fandom, but that's another story.. LOL~) Imagine getting the privilege to touch Seulong's chest and arms, being hugged ever so hard by Kwonnie, touch Jinwoon's chest and being hugged tightly by Changmin (plus he showed his back and let her touch his butt. rawr. ♥) I wish I was the one on stage *mischievous grin*

2AM after singing. Kwonnie who are you looking at? OMO~ maybe he saw the Adam Couple fan Ate Amy's friend's daughter brought. LOL~

The lucky fan preparing to touch Ong's chest. OMO~ *blushes*

Changmin turning his back to let the fan touch his o_O butt? Why can't it be me? rawr ♥

After the showcase there was a fan-signing event (yea~ the CDs bought in the venue, but only the first 500 IAMs would have their CDs signed) I really wanna strangle the MC's neck when he said the disclaimer. The first 500 people would get their CDs signed BUT they would only allot one hour for the fan-sign. I was like o_O WUT? I'm at number 159!!! What if I didn't get into the one hour cut? Or worse, what if the cut was right in front of me. I was really ready to push people. Literally. *BEEP. Sorry for for my barbaric thoughts, okay resume...*

*Ahem*
 Adorable puffy face Kwonnie >,<~♥

Anywho...fortunately, the fan signing was fast. It was already in the 100-200 mark, and my heart was about to jump out from my chest. I was like having palpitations and everything. What should I say? Should I smile? My mind was almost blank that moment I was about to step the stage. Pictures weren't allowed, I tried to capture a secret video but unfortunately all I captured from all the hu-ha were shadows and hands, whose hands were those? I feel I was a lousy secret detective. LOL~ The seating order was Seulong, Jinwoon, Kwonnie and Changmin. Finally it was my turn. When I gave my album jacket to Seulong I smiled at him and he has this most tantalizing smile ever~ EVER~ Next was Jinwoon, he looked at me and used his secret weapon: his smiling-eyes and I smiled at him back. Kwonnie at first didn't look at me because he was telling Changmin something, but when he finally saw me, I smiled then I melted (definitely my bias) . Lastly, was Changmin I was set into [pause mode] and while he was signing my album jacket, I grabbed my thoughts together and said "You are really good looking in real life" he stopped signing and smiled back at me and told me "Thanks" Seriously, by that moment, I wanted to switch biases. ^^

Should I switch biases now? Rawr.

I went down the stage were all the other PH IAMs were. We had the same expression: bewildered and floating with happiness. ♥♥

Me and Dianne with our signed CDs

Finally after 8 hours of waiting. It's all worth it~

Unfortunately, I wasn't  able to attend the Grand Showcase last 30th.  TT6TT Ugh. The mini-concert. But I guess this is fine, I could watch concerts anytime but having the experience of being this close to them is too rare. *wink* I wanted to hug them. LOL~

I'll see you soon 2AM. Now you know, you have PH IAMs waiting for you. Till next time.

PH IAMs FTW~ ♥ See you soon guys!

Thanks to Khaii for the lovely HD pics and Dianne for the first one. LOL~ (you've got credits Di-yanyan :P)

Off to sing "To Love Again" till forevahhhhh! ♥
